What happens at a First Play Visit

A girl plays with wooden blocks on the floor of the centre while an educator sits beside her and her mother watches from a beanbag.

A First Play Visit is the first time we meet your child in person. It is free during the pilot, there are no clinical tests, and there is nothing to pass.

Before the visit

We will get in touch in the way you prefer, by WhatsApp message, video call, voice call or email, to agree a time. You don’t need to bring any reports. If your child uses a hearing aid or implant, bring it as usual, with spare batteries.

During the visit

  • You stay with your child the whole time.
  • We play: picture cards, puzzles, colours, bubbles and a few simple signs.
  • We watch how your child enjoys looking, pointing, copying and exploring.
  • You can ask us anything, in ISL, Hindi or English.

The visit is short and relaxed, and there is no rush.

After the visit

We share what we noticed, simply and honestly: what your child enjoyed, and how we would start. If the programme feels right for your family, we talk about pilot places and next steps. If it doesn’t, that’s fine too, and we will point you to useful resources either way.

What it isn’t

A First Play Visit is not a hearing test, a diagnosis or an entrance exam. It is a chance for your child to play, and for all of us to get to know each other.
