Children with hearing aids practise signs with their teacher at a table.A teacher and a boy sign to each other across a table of wooden blocks.

For professionals

For doctors, audiologists and therapists

When a child is identified as deaf or hard of hearing, the family’s next step matters. Ishara Kids offers an early years programme in ISL, Hindi and English that works alongside the medical care you provide, never in place of it.

An Ishara Kids educator signs while talking with an audiologist in a white coat, who takes notes on a tablet.

How we work alongside your care

Our curriculum follows NEP 2020 and the ISLRTC guidelines and uses a Total Communication approach, so a child who uses devices gets structured listening practice, and a child who does not still has full language through ISL.

  • A quick sound check of every device each morning, using the Ling-6 sounds with picture cards and puppets.
  • Daily one-to-one listening and speech practice in a sound-treated room, matched to the child’s audiogram.
  • FM and sound-field systems in the classroom, and device care training for parents: daily checks, batteries and processor care.
  • Speech-reading and oral-motor practice for all children, alongside ISL, Hindi and English.
  • We share progress with you, with the family’s agreement, and refer back to you whenever a device or hearing question comes up.
